It
is the responsibility of the installer/contractor
to properly receive, store, handle and brace metal
plate connected wood trusses to protect life and
property.
The Truss Plate Institute
of Canada has created a set of guidelines for
safe handling installation and bracing in PDf
format that are available on the internet. www.tpic.ca
Prior to any component installation, the documents
accompanying the product should be carefully examined
and distributed to the appropriate persons. Included
in these documents are hanger specifications,
if applicable, a layout, which is an aerial representation
of the project depicting component locations,
and an engineering page for each truss design.
Installation should begin only once all bearing
and installation locations have been verified
and any unsatisfactory situations have been rectified.
Cutting, drilling, or altering any truss in any
way from its original design will void the engineering
approval. Should any changes be required, DJ Jackson’s
will supply the appropriate details and instructions
for repairs due to bearing modifications, design
modifications and/or any damage that may occur.
Contact DJ Jackson’s immediately for assistance
in resolving any of these situations.
The engineering drawings which have been provided
contain all necessary information for installation
including spacing, bearing locations and sizes,
point load locations, and any applicable nailing
patterns. This paperwork is also required by most
building departments in order to obtain permit
and complete a framing inspection.
All truss designs created by DJ Jackson’s
have been reviewed and stamped by a certified
engineer based on the information provided by
the client.
